On my drive to the Cardiff by the Sea post office today ...I took a photo to share my view with you.

It doesn't matter how many times I drive down this hill...I still marvel at the beautiful palm trees lined up in rows.  The stunning blue sea against the white and blue wisps of clouds...What a beautiful view...I am grateful.

Healing Aromatic Journeys Classes in Encinitas

NATURAL PERFUME WORKSHOP

I will be teaching a Natural Perfume Workshop on Thursday, February 3 at 10 am and Sunday, February 6  at 2 pm.  The cost is $250.00 and it is 3 hours long.  You will learn the basics of perfumery and create your perfume in class to be taken home. All supplies are provided.  There is still room in the class.

I also teach online classes using Skype. Aromatic Journeys I a 1 hour for $50.00. Aromatic Journeys II a 1 hour for $50.00. NP workshop $250.00 for 3 hours. After the NP class then I teach an Accord class for 1 hour for $50.00. I send sample vials, blotters, info etc to you. Honeysuckle Memories

As a child I would wander in the forest surrounding our house.  There was always honeysuckle blooming in the Spring.   I have many fond memories of this sweet, inviting scent.  The fragile yellow and white flowers always bring a smile to my face.  This honeysuckle is growing on my hillside.  I was recently at the beach and saw it growing on some long grass with some ice plant mixed in.  It is wild and just grows and expands where it wants to.  That is how I feel right now.  I just want to grow and expand.

I do not pick them so I do not tincture, macerate, or enfleurage these tiny blooms.  The fresh bloom often smells so different from the tinctured version.  They are great just as they are.   Fleeting memories.....

Rose Geranium Blooming In My Yard

I felt so grateful this morning when I went into my yard to drink my coffee and wake up.  To my surprise this beautiful rose geranium had bloomed and graced me with her presence.  This is a scented geranium.  When you rub the leaves it gives off a wonderful, flowery rose and green geranium scent...Beautiful.

Rose geranium is such a female plant and is used for balancing.  It can be used for balancing hormones, hot flashes, PMS, quitting smoking, depression, and for unworthiness issues.  I helps you to feel "mothered".  It is definitely a comforting scent.

Name That Flower!

Living in Southern California we have a plethora of flora and fauna.  These flowers are one of my favorites.  They are a huge bell that has an ethereal smell coming from them.  It is intoxicating.  When you walk near them at night the air is full of this soft, sweet smell.  It is just as intense as night blooming jasmine.  Who can tell me the official Latin name for this plant?

Aromatic Journey class

This class is an exploration in aromatics. We will learn about scent nuances, aromatherapy properties for body, mind, and spirit, "seeing color" and feeling the energy of the oils. Becoming familiar with the natural botanicals is a beginning step to natural perfumery.

Natural Perfumery Class

We will together smell the 33 essences on a blotter paper and discuss the scent classification and attributes of each essence.

We will discuss top, middle, base notes and define what each essence is. We will learn how long each note will last in a perfume. We will discuss strengths of eau de toilettes, eau de parfums, and parfums.

We will build accords, discuss blending a scent for a purpose or a themed essence, etc. We will discuss creating the scent drop by drop and the bases that can be used.

There will be question and answers throughout the process.

Includes 33 sample vials of essential oils, absolutes, and blotters, Scent Classification sheet, Oil Classification Guide, and Fragrance Family Classification sheet. A 1/8 oz - 3.75 mls of perfume you create in class to be taken home.
