Do aromatic journeys always have to be with perfume?

At the store I found these wonderful golden delicious apples..I couldn't wait to get home and make apple crisp.  As I was cutting up the apples I realized how much cooking and baking is like creating perfume.  The fresh fruity aroma of the apples..adding the cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves..is like adding the spice element to a perfume..The melted butter for the topping reminded me of my butter co2 I use.  Oatmeal and brown sugar mixed with flour adds a nutty smell.

So the Aromatic Journey of measuring the ingredients, stirring them together had many similarities to making natural fragrances.

I must say the ultimate aroma came when the apple crisp was almost done..the cinnamon and spicy notes were singing in the oven..the apple aroma was like fresh hot cider..I started salivating..oh my...tell me this is not perfume!

Here is the recipe I have used for many years...I double the topping as I really love the crunch with the soft apples..contrast is good.  Enjoy!  By the way..there are no calories in this recipe..hehe.

Apple Crisp

9 x 9 baking pan

350 degrees oven

4 cups or more peeled, cored, and sliced apples

Topping:  (I double this)
2/3 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup soft butter
1/2 cup oatmeal, old fashioned kind
dash nutmeg, cloves..whatever pops your cork

Butter the pan and add the apples. Mix the other ingredients and spread over the apples.  Bake 1 hour at 350 degree oven.

Goes good with coffee..

Today has been a very heart opening day!.  What joyous energy came through today.  Now that the drama of the full moon has dissipated we can all take a deep breath.

Expand your heart energy.  Give yourself and someone else a big hug....hug your pet, or a child.  Speak words of love and caring.  What you put out comes back to you...make it loving.

MIracles For Monday and Beyond

What Miracles have you experienced today? Today is a new moon in Virgo. It is a time for new beginnings.

Last year I decided to tell my story and participate in a book with multiple authors. I became an author.
As a child I would write poems and short stories. What a miracle to think that in my adult life I became an author. If you do something artistic as a child ...you never know if it will become your occupation, passion, or if it will just fade away.

I also sat at my Father's desk and played with his accounting ledgers. Funny thing, I became an accountant.
Other fun things I did was play entrepreneur as a restaurant owner, clothing store owner, librarian, herbal and flower concoction maker..Oh and funny thing I became an aromatherapist and natural perfumer.

More food for thought...

My Patchouli Parfum Reflections

I have recently created a patchouli perfume for Perfume Pharmer’s project Summer of Patchouli Love. Looking in my files today I decided to see how many perfumes in my collections contain patchouli.  This is a parfum in organic jojoba oil with dark patchouli
Exclusive Reflections Limited Edition Parfum is the perfect gift. An exquisite, hand blown glass perfume bottle with the colors of a sunset over the ocean, houses this enchanting perfume. The Reflections parfum bottle started with a sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The pinks, reds, blues, purples, and yellows merge together to become a reflection on the ocean.

Reflections natural perfume is created from the finest materials available.

Fabulous centifolia rose otto, expensive and rare oud, exotic and costly boronia, tuberose, neroli (orange blossoms), vanilla absolute, vintage Mysore sandalwood and many other citrus and floral notes. A hint of spice tops this exclusive essence.
This natural perfume is 36% fragrance strength in an organic base of golden jojoba oil.
This precious hand blown glass bottle includes a lovely dauber to apply the perfume.
No synthetics or man made fragrance oils in this exotic perfume.

This is an exclusive and limited edition. This precious bottle holds 1/2 ounce of parfum for $350.00. Reflections is available at this link.

How Are You Being Fed?

I went to Woody Allen's movie Midnight In Paris yesterday.  What a great movie!  It was a fantasy for the main character and we got to live vicariously through him in this movie.

He was a writer who dreamed of living in Paris.  He longed for the lifestyle of the famous authors, painters, and artists of days past.  For an hour we got to time travel and feel the joys, miracles, and longings of the actors.

In April I saw this butterfly exhibit and marveled at the colors of the butterflies, and the terrific patterns on their wings.  They are moving pieces of art.  I captured them on my camera as they were feeding.

I ask you today to explore ...what is feeding you?

THERE IS PEACE

There Is Peace
There Is Peace
in the reflections of light on the ocean.
There Is Peace
in the smile on my lover’s face.
There Is Peace
in the knowing that I AM
.
There Is Peace
in the warm wind that blows.
There Is Peace
in the scented geraniums on my patio.
There Is Peace
in knowing all is well.

Into The Unkown

The leaps of faith we take when our futures seem uncertain not only enable us to express our trust in a caring universe, but also provide us with opportunities to expand the borders of our experience. These thoughtful, calculated risks that compel us to step toward the borders of our comfort zones have the potential to become points from which we take our lives in entirely new directions. Although the possibility of failure will always be present in some measure, we are able to concentrate wholeheartedly on the success we know is waiting for us on the other side of the chasm of change. As a result, we find ourselves imbued with the strength and determination that enables us to push off into the unknown. The leap of faith you take today will rocket you toward degrees of fulfillment you never before dreamed possible.

Encinitas, California Today Before The Rain

On my drive to the Cardiff by the Sea post office today ...I took a photo to share my view with you.

It doesn't matter how many times I drive down this hill...I still marvel at the beautiful palm trees lined up in rows.  The stunning blue sea against the white and blue wisps of clouds...What a beautiful view...I am grateful.
